These engagement photos at Lost Dutchman State Park in front of the Superstition Mountains were amazing. I have always had a love for this park, so when Madison and Dave told me they'd like to shoot here, I was super excited. The sunsets at this park are absolute magic and the trails have varying levels, so it's easy to plan for. It is also conveniently super close to this abandoned ghost town that is most definitely a photographic tourist trap, but I love it. When I lived in Phoenix in 2016 I hiked the treasure loop trail here at least 2x a week. It was just the place to go and relax.
Dave and Madison are pretty interesting, she's a nurse and he's an officer with the phoenix police. They even wanted to make their uniforms as part of the shoot! We started off at Goldfield Ghost town which is one of my favorite little tourist stops, took some photos on the property near the train tracks (miniature tracks, nothing illegal or unsafe here), and then continued over to Lost Dutchman state park. We all had a good time, hiking a little bit up and joking around while we shot. I like to keep things super low key during my sessions, so I just let Madison and Dave be Madison and Dave. That person to person interaction is what actually makes good photos that you remember. We all continued on until the sun was getting low enough to where we wanted to make sure we were on the way back. You don't really want to get lost in the park after dark unless you know exactly where the trail is. I've lost my own parking spot at least four times there.
