Finally, a true Chicago Engagement session on my blog! We were all waiting for this right? No? Dang it.
Well let's talk a minute about this amazing Chicago engagement session with Nhi and Derick because, they rocked it. Full stop, engagement sessions are probably my favorite thing to do and I love being able to use my otherwise useless knowledge of secret spots in Chicago for my couples. Now about the couple, Nhi and I go way back... To the post a week or two before this session where her friend who I also didn't know tagged her in it. I kid, but these two were so much fun I swear it felt like hanging out with friends I had known for years. They were foodies, travelers (they just did a cruise!) and were all down for shooting even though it was legitimately cold. As is the norm, I don't try and pose people so that they are uncomfortable the entire time we shoot. I treat engagement sessions like they are are custom date nights for every client I have, so we focused on capturing real interactions through fun questions, games, and just letting them be them.
We started the engagement session at sunset meeting at the John Hancock Building (now Chicago 360) and then headed across the street to a beautiful old church in River North. I think in total we did about 2 hours, but I don't think any of us felt like it ran too long. We had fun, got some sunset shots, interior work and even night portraits with the flash.
